26 Feb '18 — born again
My husband and I have been away for a month. I’ve been flexible with eating, despite being vegetarian. In a country full of street food, I’ve been sipping meat broths after removing meat, wontons, and dumplings.

You wouldn’t think broths would cause so much trouble but my body is worn out. Last night I had a meal at a vegetarian restaurant. I was surprised how much better I felt.
Now, I can appreciate ‘vegetarian’ as a cuisine.
Previously, I thought veg cookbooks were silly. There are so many recipes mimicking traditional meat dishes–how could the cuisine be its own category? There are many recipes that don’t come with meat. Why not just eat those? Why call anything vegetarian and make a statement?
Anyways, I cannot wait to get home and cook vegetarian…
