In the Russian Country

— A new fashion label.

I wonder what it's like to frolick in the forests of Russia.

I’m not drawn to much fashion these days, but this morning, I discovered a label that jumped out. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this excited about clothes.

Delada launched in September. Lada Komarova is a designer with a family background in knitting and embroidery. Her first collection is inspired by her romantic childhood, frolicking in the Russian countryside.

I love the extended layers look, especially with green pants and leather.

Perhaps that’s why I find the collection so original. I’m unfamiliar with a the Russian country as I’m unfamiliar with the color palette, print combinations and body silhouettes. Not that I haven’t seen the same design elements elsewhere: slashed and reconfigured button downs are common this season as are dresses with exposed backs. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s the combination of all the design elements coming together that make it new. Leda's distinct aesthetic is present in all her pieces. There's a strong intention in each look, as if conveying some message from Leda’s past.
